With the election season getting hotter and hotter, blue as the trendy color in the fashion industry is also on the rise.
The campaign contributions analysed by employees and executives of 27 mass retailers, apparel vendors and department stores during the election period showed that the industry is lining up in favor of Barack Obama.
The contributions of the individual industry reveal that people from department stores, specialty chains, apparel brands and discounters gave a combined amount of $357,865 from January 2007 till August this year.
The list of the companies included in this campaign analysis facilitated by the nonprofit center are different vendors such as Jones Apparel Group Inc., Liz Claiborne Inc., Calvin Klein Inc., Polo Ralph Lauren Corp., Nike Inc., Estée Lauder Cos. and Levi Strauss & Co. The department stores included in the campaign analysis are Nordstrom Inc., J.C. Penney Co., Macy’s Inc., Neiman Marcus Group and Saks Inc. while the specialty retailers include Pacific Sunwear of California Inc., Gap Inc., Limited Brands Inc. and Ann Taylor Stores Corp. There are also some mass merchants who participated such as Sears Holding Corp., Target Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. This is said to be the first in the history as fashion trends companies joined hand in hand for an election campaign.
