Celebrity fashion is, a subject heavily debated and critiqued by the masses, is not an easy topic to centre a TV programmer around unless the host is particularly thick skinned. WIth such a programme, critics will inevitbale glance their judging eyes on what the host is wearing during their numerous TV appearances.

In the case of “Fashion Police” host Joan Rivers, she’s on the receiving end of some caustic advice on what to wear herself.

The show, which focuses on catching celebrities with good-looking and worst-looking dresses, is gaining a massive following, thanks to the mean yet witty comments by Rivers. However, in a recent photo, it was seen that Rivers need some advice herself.

The photo showed Rivers arriving at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York earlier this week with daughter Melissa and the host wore a black warm up suit with a fur coat and gold chain. She looked like someone who’s aspiring to be a hiphop star – celebrity fashion faux pas has been noticed for this latest wardrobe choice.
Rivers has yet to comment on these criticisms.

A fashion blogger is taking another step further by designing her own collection and will be sold via high-end fashion clothing retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M).

H&M, a Swedish clothing retailer, has worked with high profile celebrities such as Madonna. This time, the store announced that Swedish fashion blogger Elin Kling will now be part of the family and her collection will be launched on February 3.

H&M Sweden Marketing Manager Sofia Jegerborn said that Kling has made herself a fashion icon in Scandinavia and as such she can serve as a model among fashion-conscious audience that the store wants to target.

Kling’s blog, called Style By Kling, has garnered massive following. The stylish fashion blogger has created nine items plus two accessories, with talk of a potential range of lingerie.

The news was met with positive response by her fans and that several bloggers have greeted Kling via social networking sites to congratulate her on this new endeavor.

The blind will now get to have an idea of the latest fashion trends especially those sexy lingerie. Thanks to one of the latest fashion trends set up by an artist.

Toronto-based artist Lisa Murphy came up with an idea of creating this particular art for those who lack the sense of sight.

Earlier this year, Murphy released a handmade book that’s titled “Tactile Mind.” The book features raised, 3-dimensional images of naked people with private parts ingeniously sculpted on thermoform plastic pages. These materials are the same ones used for Braille.

The artist was quoted as saying that the main goal behind this project is to give the blind a chance to “feel their way” through the human body. She added that adult magazines and films don’t cater at all for the visually-challenged individuals.

The project has garnered media mileage and interest from the public.

Women’s Wear Daily listed top fashion trends and moments in the past century which defined how fashion had evolved throughout the period and empowered women to make a statement through clothing, accessories and many more.

Making the historical moments list include the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace and the suicide of Alexander McQueen. Versace was murdered by a male lover in the past while McQueen took his own life last February.

Celebrities that were considered fashion icons were included in the list including Jean Harlow, Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Jackie Kennedy and First Lady Michelle Obama. Fashion designers that have made a name in the industry include Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta.

Clothes that have become fashion trends through the years include the bikini and other innovative designs from new generation of fashion designers.

A senior executive for department store David Jones will be leaving the company in favor of Pacific Brands.

According to reports, Colette Garnsey, a long-time executive head of fashion and beauty in the department, will be leaving David Jones to work for Pacific Brands. The resignation was just one of the high profile exodus of the officials in the company after former chief executive Mark McInnes was accused of sexual harassment.

Garnsey runs the underwear and hosiery division of the company with popular brands Berlei, Bonds, Hard Yakka and Razzamatazz identified to this division.

The case against McInnes was settled out of court for nearly $1 million. However, the case had tarnished the company which left high profile executives to leave and join other companies.

Prior to Garnsey’s resignation, head of financial services and marketing Damian Eales left the company in favor of Westpac Bank.

The city of Zurich in Switzerland is all set to make a name as a potential fashion capital by staging its own fashion show called “Fashion Days” which begins this week.

According to reports, Zurich is ready to compete with other European fashion capital such as Milan and Paris by showcasing that the latest fashion from this side of the world. International fashion designers are also invited in this event.

More than forty designers are scheduled to showcase their 2011 Spring collection. Actress Penelope Cruz is scheduled to be in the event since she and sister Monica will be unveiling their exclusive collections that are designed for the Charles Vogele fashion show.

During the press conference, event spokesperson Anne Gorgerat Kall said that this will be the first time that a city in Switzerland will be hosting a fashion show with so much prestige and grandeur.

The finale of the Wills India Fashion Week went by successfully and giving star power in the conclusion of the successful was none other than Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty and Chitrangada Singh. The two stars were present at the show set up by designer Tarun Tahiliani.

The audiences were surprised with the absence of celebrities during the five-day event but were not left disappointed in the grand finale when Shetty was seen in the event.

Shetty walked down the catwalk wearing tulle Fantasie bodice and a heavily designed lehenge in malkha. The actress said that the designer has always been supportive of her by designing specific designer clothes that fit her personality. She added that she always admired his designs which easily convinced her to become part of the fashion show.

The designer’s collection is composed of kurtis, jodhpurs and saris composed of silk and chiffon, which are the kind of basic designs which suit any figure of any woman.

Designer Alber Elbaz of fashion giant Lanvin is set to unveil his 30-piece winter fashion collection for H&M later this month and said that the collection is priced at budget-friendly rates thus making it more accessible to more people.

The collection will go on sale November 23.

Elbaz landed a lucrative collaboration deal with Hennes & Mauritz  (H&M) and got the freedom to come up with  a winter fashion collection that gets the pulse of the public. H&M is no longer new with collaborations with top designers. For the past few years, the Swedish fashion giant had collaborated with famous designers such as Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld, Comme de Garcons and Victor & Rolf.

H&M aims to reach out to broader audiences via the new collections designed by Elbaz. The designer said that the concept of “fast fashion” can be seen on the new collection.

Despite the pending divorce of her parents, teen superstar Miley Cyrus continues with her commitments in terms of concerns, film making and designing fashion clothes.

According to reports, her parents Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus are filing for divorce after being together for seventeen years. Divorce documents revealed that they have “irreconcilable differences” that led to this separation.

The young star is said to be optimistic that her parents can still sort things out before they finally call it quits. However, she keeps herself busy rather than mull over this latest family problem by teaming up with fashion creative consultant Max Azria in order to expand her fashion clothing line she launched a couple of years ago.

Sarah Wells, the owner of lingerie store Elizabeth Wells and one of the organizers of the event said that Fashion City York is a great opportunity for everyone to place the city in the fashion map. She stressed that aside from offering the latest fashion trends to the public, the people of York are also fashionable as well.
