Paris Fashion Week was rocked by the hothouse prints and bold colors of 24 year old Emanuel Ungaro designer Esteban Cortazar. This is Cortazar’s second season designing for the label and so far his young career has been very successful – the next Marc Jacobs, perhaps?
Cortazar blew his Paris Fashion Week audience away by sending down colorful flirty summer dresses, rather than womens nightwear designs. In shades that could only be described as fire, forest and sky. He also injected some basic shades paired with unexpected pieces. He also had some structured pieces that featured rusching and ruffle work. The young designer was also unabashed about using wide pin tucks sewn in patterns.
“I know that this type of work shows a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of positive energy, and I think that that’s what we need to have,” Cortazar told reporters after his show.
The outfits and their colors were inspired by Cotazar’s hometown of Cartagena is Colombia. The young designer also drew inspiration from the works of his father who is a painter. It was the perfect contrast to the gloomy economic state faced by the United States and the rest of the world.
Included in Cortazar’s audience was New York socialite Tinsley Mortimer.
