There has been a massive call for the refurbishing of costumes worn by actress Vivien Leigh in the hit classic movie “Gone With the Wind” and fans everywhere have stepped up in the occasion to make this undertaking possible.

Several tailors, dry cleaners, seamstresses and volunteers have called the Harry Ransom Center located at the University of Texas and offered their services to take part in the recreation and repair of these dresses.

Center’s collection assistant Jill Morena said that they were overwhelmed by the response of the public n the undertaking.

The Ransom Center officials believe that the best way to make the undertaking possible is for the people to make a donation. The center is hoping to raise about $30,000 to restore the wedding gowns and other costumes worn in this film.

One of the dresses that caught the attention of the viewers was the deep-green curtain dress which was the first wedding dress of Scarlett O’Hara.

Ali Fedotowsky, the star behind hit reality TV show “The Bachelorette,” revealed some interesting information as to who she prefers to design her wedding dress in her upcoming marriage to Roberto Martinez. Though the planning is still in the early stages, the reality TV star already has a fashion designer in mind.

In an interview with Us Magazine, Fedotowsky said that she prefers fashion designer Monique Lhuillier to create that dream wedding dress. The 25-year old was present at the “Endless Summer” Primetime Emmy Suite event held at the Gonpachi restaurant in Beverly Hills.

When asked for the reason behind her choice, Fedotowsky said that she preferred the flowy designs of the dresses by Lhuillier. The popular fashion designer had created the wedding dresses of Carrie Underwood and Bachelor star Molly Malaney.

The television star said that they have yet to set a date of their marriage.

Multi-awarded actress Dame Helen Mirren revealed in an interview that she only packs her designer lingerie items whenever she goes for her holiday trips, saying that she buys her clothing and other needs at her destination.

The 65-year old actress said that she does not go to high-end department stores to buy luxury clothing items but rather go to a charity shop at her destination and just buy the necessary travelling garments.

In an interview, Mirren said that she loves going to charity shops during her travels. Whenever she’s about to leave the place, she usually asks the cab driver to take her to another charity shop where she can just drop off what she bought and used so that another person will have a chance to do the same thing.

Mirren said that she’s currently busy with film projects.

In a bid to make a mark in the fashion business, Victoria Beckham has ventured into a new project – launch her very first line of fashion handbags under her label.

The former Spice Girl is known for being a fashionista and she has the know-how when it comes to choosing the best bags, having owned more than $2 million worth of fashion handbags.

According to reports, Beckham hired leading accessories designer Katie Hillier to create handbags for her. Hillier has worked with Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs.

A spokeswoman for Beckham confirmed the developments, saying that Hillier will be consulting on the technical aspects on designing the fashion handbags. The spokeswoman clarified that Beckham has also collaborated with other consultants in order to make this venture possible.

Hillier has her own jewelry line called Hillier London.

Actress Sienna Miller is rumored to tie to knot with actor Jude Law later this year and this development seemed to not suit Miller’s sister, fashion designer Savannah Miller, who said that she won’t be making the wedding dress for her sister if she does get married to Law.

The 31-year old designer said that this won’t create a big impact on the couple since they do have a lot of options where they can get the services of other top designers.

It can be remembered that Sienna Miller broke off her engagement to Law in 2006 after the latter admitted to having slept with his children’s nanny, Daisy Wright.

A year ago, the actress has been adamant in saying that they never reunited.

However, lately, she admitted that they are now friends and that they event spent a couple of weeks in an Italian town with Law’s children.

The fashion community in South Korea is mourning over the death of popular fashion designer Andre Kim. The 74-year old designer died late last week after succumbing to colon cancer and pneumonia.

Kim is one of the pioneers of fashion design in the Asian country. In fact, he was the country’s first male fashion designer when he started his career in 1962, the period where this job is considered for the females only.

At that same year, Kim launched his first fashion show and launched his “Salon Andre” business in Seoul. He became the first Korean to conduct a fashion show in Paris four years later.

He’s also been an influential figure in major events in Korea such as the Seoul Olympics in 1988 where he showcased his designs to the world. His success in the industry earned him multiple local and international awards.

The wrap dress which was designed and popularized by fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg in the 70’s has made its mark once more in the modern scene because they can actually pass as ladies nightwear and these classic wardrobe blend really well with anything they wear.

Fashion experts believe that regardless of body size, women from all ages can wear the wrap dress without suffering the so called “fashion disaster.”

Actress Sienna Miller and sibling, designer Savannah Miller, have come up with a venture that will showcase both their talents. The duo decided to come up with a short film to promote their latest fashion collection under their own label – Twenty8Twelve.

Sienna will be seen with Swedish model Sara Blomqvist in the film and they’ll be wearing the latest fashion collection. The film’s location is at the famous Hilles, the home of former fashion editor Isabella Blow. Blow committed suicide in the said location three years ago.

Miller was interviewed by Vogue about the new film and she said that Hilles provided the best backdrop for the undertaking. She explained that the “eclectic” style of the house reflected the elements of their latest fashion collection. She added that she enjoyed every minute of the shoot because they are all inspired with the upcoming launch of the collection.

The heavy downpour last Wednesday did not dampen the organizers’ spirit. They went on to kick off the prestigious Montreal Fashion Week with tourists, media and fashionistas trooping to the racetrack runway built at McGill Avenue. The good thing was that the fashion show managed to start on time because the weather improved later that day.

Thirteen prominent designers in Montreal showcased their newest collection and the proceeds of the event will go to Groupe Sensation Mode, a non-profit organization that’s designed to assist aspiring designers to showcase their work.

Olympian Joannie Rochette was one of those who walked the ramp and showed her sexy body in a black off-the-shoulder evening dress that was designed by Nadya Toto. Television host Angelo Cadet was seen riding a bike. Other celebrities also showed up at the event to express their support in the undertaking.

Philippine lawmakers are now warned that should they dress inappropriately when they report for sessions at the House of Representatives, else they will be penalised by being marked as absent.

This warning was given by the House of Representatives Secretariat last Wednesday, just three days after the 15th Congress began its session.

In Section 92 of the Rules of the House, men should wear barong Filipino or coat and tie while female lawmakers should wear business suits or Filipiniana dresses.

The members and officers of the Secretariat themselves are not exempted in the ruling. They were advised to wear their official uniform during committee hearings and sessions.

Lawmakers welcomed this ruling without question, saying that this should have been strictly implemented all along.

A number of lawmakers caught media hype after they were seen wearing clothes and accessories from a high-end brand. Ironically, the official represents the poorer sections of society.
